I got an exciting email today letting me know that I have been chosen to alpha test Evolve. Keep your eyes open I’ll be blogging about the game as I’m playing and hopefully be posting links for you to watch my game play. Game on!
Rainbow Six: Siege
Our favorite series from Tom Clancy is back and in full HD 60fps. The focus thus far is centered on the multiplayer, a 5 v 5 counter terrorist vs terrorist battle in a totally destructible world. Siege, like its predecessors will be based on tactical game play that is based on reality. As opposed to other FPS that I won’t mention here *coughCODcough* where everything is based on “realistic” Hollywood ideas and capitalism reigns giving you the option to purchase at a premium the maps you bought last year with a new skin. But I digress. At the announcement made at this year’s E3 we got a look at “Hostage” mode. In this mode terrorists try to prevent the counter terrorist’s from rescuing the hostage. At the start of the match there is a timer counting down allowing each team to prepare for the other, with terrorists reinforcing walls and windows and the counter terrorist’s flying drones over head to find the hostage and the best way in. After the planning stage the counter terrorist’s have 5 min to rescue the hostage. The Hostage can be moved around to make thing more interesting, and the surrounding houses can be used by a sniper to take down enemies from across the street. Repelling is also back with a great improvement, you no longer need the predetermined repel points. Instead just about every window and edge of a roof top can be repelled from. Mind your surroundings will repelling though, Siege is bringing back the one life policy. A player can be revived for a short time after being killed after that they are out for the rest of the round, but don’t worry a killed player has access to cameras spread out across the house and can provide great info to the remaining players. The one life to live rule is very important to the game-play in siege. Just like in typical first person shooters if everyone has an infinite number of responds the team with the best solo player wins, and the match is a constant run and gun. By being retained to one life a player is forced to focus on their surroundings plan each step and do something crazy… work as a TEAM! Not something you run into a lot in most games out at the moment. I am sure that anyone reading this and has played battlefield 4 can tell you that they have never been in a match where half of their team is sitting on a hill (usually the same hill and almost on top of one another) sniping (and missing) while the other half of the team is left to try and capture three bases (and no one is at the same base). Again I digress. Keep your heads up more info to come. Game on!
So as i mentioned in my last post i have finally bought an xbox one. It is awesome! I have been playing it for the past couple of weeks and really putting it through its paces. A plesant surprise was the kinect. To be clear i only got the kinect because it came in the package that i got a heck pf a deal on. My first thought when reading about vioce comands was “wow i would hate to have to hit the power botton on my xbox like a barbarian” but now that i have been using them i have found that several of them are pretty helpful. For instance say that im in a strike misson on destiny, i’m surrounded by enemys and a notification pops up saying that my buddy has jumped on xbox live all i have to do is say “xbox party, start a party, invite to party, person 1, party and game” in turn all he has to do when the invite pops up is say “xbox launch” and it will start the connection process. I suspect though that there wont be many added and/or comands that im going to use because game designers can choose to intergrate speech functions or have their game at 1080 full HD at 60fps. I wonder which option they will choose? Also, to give fair warning, that really cool feature where you can walk into the room and say “xbox on” and the system boots? That keeps a small portion of your system on all the time, big waste of electricity, money, and i would think hard on the system over time. Do yourself a favor walk the extra 6 feet to turn the system on with the out dated touch sensitive pad on the front of the system at least that way you’ll get a bit of exercise before playing destiny for the next 14hrs. Game on.
As of Tuesday this week the long awaited game Destiny hit the market with great success. The kind of succes that makes your company $500 million on the day of release. I myself was happy to have found a deal through newegg.com where I received an Xbox One, Kinetic (find spelling), Forza Motorsport 5, Destiny, 12 months of Xbox live, and free shipping for $499. I have, since it arrived, played Destiny for 31 hours the fruits of my labor have been a level 20 Warlock and a level 5 titan. The game is beautiful you can be deep in the dark of a fallen cave, and then step out into the daylight and see the massive open world of Earth, Venus, Mars, and the Moon. Now some people have been reviewing Destiny and they have said that story line is weak. That sounds like that came from someone who has only played the game for about 8 hours and has done nothing but play the intro a few story missions and the rest of the time spent in the crucible (for those who haven’t played that is the PvP). There is a great story line it is just not based on endless cut scenes, instead your trusty companion the Ghost fills you in on everything from that aforementioned story line to the intel for your current mission. Something to keep in mind, don’t pick a mission and click launch and then walk away. Destiny is not your typical run and grab a snack or use the “facilities” while it’s loading game. Ghost talks to you and gives you important story line information while the game loads the area for your mission. So as long as you have stayed in the room, and you can get your buddy Jason to be quiet *cough cough*, there is a great story line to follow. Another thing to keep in mind is that this game is not set up as a story that you get to participate in every now and again as the story progresses. Instead, as cliché as it sounds you are the story. As a result every time you play your experience in the story line changes slightly making it your own. It is truly a remarkable game. Do your self a favor andd pick up Destiny for your console of choice and Game On!
Alright guys as I mentioned in my previous post, on Halo Master Chief Edition, a new live action series will be released with the game. Halo Nightfall will be filling in the gap between Halo 4 and Halo 5 the story follows the origin story of legendary manhunter Jameson Locke and his team as they are caught in a terrorist attack while investigating terrorist activity on the distant colony world of Sedra. Led by Locke, the Office of Naval Intelligence agents are forced to coordinate with a Sedran commander who dosen’t trust ONI. As the plot unravels, they’re drawn to an ancient, hellish artifact where they’re forced to fight for their survival, question everything, and ultimately choose between their loyalties and their lives. Agent Locke is a new character in the Halo universe poised to play a major role in Halo 5: Guardians releasing on Xbox One in 2015. The story was written by Paul Scheuring who was responsible for creating Prison Break and it’s produced by Ridley Scott. Ridley was responsible for movies such as Blade Runner, Alien, and Prometheus. I promise the next post will be about the new halo series (Halo Nightfall), but I really wanted to mention Dishonored. Dishonored was released in 2012, it was developed by Arkane Studios which brought you games like Call of Duty World at War and Bioshock 2. The producers of Dishonored were responsible for The elder Scroll, Fallout, Doom, and Wolfstien series. So Dishonored had some good people behind it, and it shows. I recently downloaded Dishonored as a free game with gold, and I think it is a great game. I would recommend giving it look it only took up about 4.xx gigs on the hard drive. The graphics look great (considering it was 2012) the story line has been good thus far, and I like the way it throws you right in. Sometimes games can give you a five hour tutorial for a game that takes two good hours to beat. I digress. If you liked any of the games that I listed earlier I would give this one a shot, after all you can’t beat the price.
Hey everyone! Coming to your home on November 11th 2014 it’s the Halo Master Chief Collection! With a release date scheduled for 2 days after Halo 2’s 10 year anniversary, the Halo Master Chief Collection (HMCC) is celebrating with a bang. *no pun intended* 343 Industries has brought together Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4 to make one game with an achievable 4,000 gamerscore. HMCC ships with 45 campaign missions and gives you the option of playing them through from start to finish, or make your own custom play list so you can play all your favorite Halo battles in in order you want. 343 Industries has also given Halo 2 a makeover giving it the same treatment they did to Halo Combat evolved, bringing the graphics to next gen level while at the same time allowing the player to switch back to the original graphics at any time for nostalgia’s sake. They have also created 6 new multiplayer maps for Halo 2 bringing the map count to 31. So what does this all cost you might ask? $59.99, that’s right all 4 games will be sold for the price of one. This is a real good deal when you consider that Halo 4 was released not too long ago, and when the anniversary edition of Halo Combat Evolved was released it sold for $39.99. Now it wouldn’t be capitalism if there wasn’t a special edition that totes “free” items. While nothing has been released about what the extras will be here in the states the U.K. has announced that there will be a limited edition that will sport a steel case, map book, and grunt funeral skull. As for here in the states you can pick up the map book and the grunt skull by preordering the game at Best Buy, however it is rumored that the steel case won’t make its way over here. The U.K. will also me getting the Mjolnir edition which will include everything the limited edition plus a 12” tall Artfx Master Chief that features replaceable arms and battle rifle. The Mjolnir edition will come with a hefty price tag of 169.99. In case you need more reasons to run out and pre order your copy today, 343 is also including a demo for Halo 5 and bringing a new halo series out. I’ll be posting more info on the Halo series in my next post. Game on everyone!
